Expect ten days of rides, vendors, live music and racing at Daytona International Speedway, plus heavy traffic and booked-up rooms. Book lodging early and know Florida’s helmet and eye-protection rules before you ride.

Where the action is
The visitor bureau lists these as the main Bike Week areas:
- Historic Main Street, Daytona Beach: the traditional “see and be seen” center of the rally.
- Midtown: live music, food vendors and a ride-in bike show.
- Scenic A1A: the oceanfront highway.
- Ormond Beach Scenic Loop: a ride through old Florida, north of Daytona.
- Daytona International Speedway: the racing schedule.
- The U.S. 1 corridor: venues and vendors, including in Ormond Beach.

Florida riding rules to know
These come from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) and Florida Statute 316.211:
- Helmets: riders and passengers 21 or older can ride without a helmet only if they carry an insurance policy with at least $10,000 in medical benefits for crash injuries. Anyone under 21 must wear a helmet.
- Eye protection is required for motorcycle operators under Florida law.
Laws change and details matter, so read the official pages before you ride.
March weather
Daytona Beach’s normal March high is about 75.5°F, with a normal low around 55°F and roughly 3.6 inches of rain for the month (Florida Climate Center, 1991–2020). Mornings and evenings can feel cold on a bike, so pack layers, rain gear and sunscreen.
Planning tips
- Book lodging early. Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach and New Smyrna Beach fill up, and rates rise during Bike Week.
- Expect traffic and slow roads, especially on Main Street, A1A and US-1, and plan rides for earlier in the day.
- Stay hydrated and take breaks. Long days in the sun add up.
- Plan for spring break overlap. March also brings spring break crowds to the beach.
- Mind the beach rules. Volusia County beaches don’t allow alcohol or glass, and beach driving has a 10 mph limit.
Quieter side trips
- Ponce Inlet Lighthouse: Florida’s tallest lighthouse, with 203 steps and ocean views from the top. It’s open daily 10 a.m.–6 p.m. (last admission 5 p.m.) through May 30, 2027.
- Blue Spring State Park: Bike Week falls in manatee season (Nov 15–Mar 31). Day-use reservations are required.
- Sugar Mill Ruins in New Smyrna Beach: free and open sunrise to sunset.
Can’t make March?
