The Best Time to Visit Daytona Beach
Last checked: October 25, 2026. Rules, fees and dates change, so confirm on the official sites linked below before you go.
The short answer: for warm beach weather without peak-summer heat and storms, aim for April, May, October or early November. For mild weather and low prices, go in winter, but plan around the big February and March event weeks, which fill hotels fast. Summer is hottest and wettest and falls in hurricane season, but it’s still a classic beach season.
Here’s how the year breaks down.

June through September bring more than twice the rain of the drier months, mostly as afternoon thunderstorms. Winter is mild for Florida, but mornings in the 40s and 50s are normal, so pack a layer.
Season by season
Winter (December–February). Mild days, cool nights and quieter beaches, apart from race week. Winter is snowbird season, and it’s also manatee season inland: Blue Spring State Park’s manatee season runs November 15 to March 31. The park is inland near Orange City, and reservations are now required.
Spring (March–May). Many people’s favorite stretch. April is typically the driest month, and the water starts to warm. March is busy, with Bike Week and spring break crowds.
Summer (June–August). Hot, humid and busy with families. Plan beach time for the morning and expect afternoon storms. If you hear thunder, get off the beach.
Fall (September–November). Fewer crowds once school is back, and still plenty warm. September is the rainiest month on average and sits at the peak of hurricane season. By late October and November, humidity drops and the weather is often excellent.
Event weeks to plan around (or for)

Nature seasons worth knowing

- Sea turtle nesting lighting season: May 1 to October 31 in Volusia County. Beachfront lighting rules apply at night to protect nesting turtles and hatchlings.
- Beach driving hours change with the season. From May 1 to October 31, it’s 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. or sundown, whichever comes first. From November 1 to April 30, it’s sunrise to sunset. Both depend on the tide. (Full beach driving guide)
